We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Zamora recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?‘Choose something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life’- that’s what they say. So I say, what I do isn’t work. I love everything about newborn photography. From the handmade props to the lighting skills and getting to know my amazing customers, I love it all. My desire is to capture the images that you continue to share and love forever. I fantasize the images on a graduation cake, or shown on a big screen at babes wedding day. The images that hang on the wall in the family home and little one crawls by, then walks, and later shows their family. These images have so much meaning to me and I am willing to do everything it takes so you have that for your family. I dig deep, learning skills from masters in my fields through mentorship and constant practice. I work hard to learn new skills to suit your families sessions and create handmade props. My work ethic comes from wanting to make these images and my drive to deliver them for you family so that everyone can enjoy the Tiny Details.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?I have the best job as Colorado’s newborn photographer. I love catching every roll, every eyelash, for families to cherish forever. Working with Tiny Details is easy, we take care of all of the details so you can simply relax while we capture those moments we all wish to freeze. Tiny Details’ enormous collection of boutique props is sure to have something your family will love, but we also specialize in making special props to cater every session, so your session is special and just for you and your family. The Tiny Details team of trained professionals ensure your baby is in the best of hands, and our ongoing training allows us to be a leader in the industry. As we continue to grow we are always looking for more ways to serve our clients and we are excited to add a new session option in the next upcoming months. Stay in touch and follow us on social media to see the upcoming announcement.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?Perseverance, Love for the craft, and patience are three qualities it takes to be a photographer in Colorado. Perseverance- when I first started Tiny Details Photography, it felt like such a lonely world. I felt as if I was the first person with this passion and I was paving a road not many took. I felt like I didn’t have anyone to reach out to or bounce ideas off of. And when I tried new things I would hold my breath waiting for the public reaction. Pushing forward and knowing that my passion would overcome any doubts, I didn’t quit when times got lonely or tough. Love for the craft- I am certain that my love for the craft is seeping out of every pour of my body. This love drives me to be the best for our customers. Learning, practicing and implementing skills to best showcase every baby is our drive and we are proud to produce extraordinary images. Patience- This is something I don’t really have in my ‘regular’ life, but might be the most important skill in this industry. You have to have patience with yourself in learning. Newborn photography is not easy or for the faint of heart. You can spend 30 minutes setting babe up for a pose and then you pick up the lens and babe scoots out of the position. You then have to spend another 30 minutes resetting baby. My normal ‘go get it girl’ pace doesn’t fit a situation like this. Instead I soak up every moment, moving so very slowly and with great attention to my stroke always aiming to soothe babe and ensure we all take it slow and move at babe’s pace.

It felt so lonely starting Tiny Details Photography, so if you’re starting out, Id like to offer that you can reach out to a friend in the business. I love this craft so and would love to help a new photographer on their journey. I also highly recommend working with a mentor. I personally mentor with Kelly Brown, Jose, Shannon Burke. There is also a new Facebook group for Colorado newborn photographers, which is a great place to began your journey and make friends in your area with the same passion.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?I believe every parent should have an opportunity to capture these once in a lifetime photos to cherish forever. My customers want to freeze the moment. Our ideal client understands this time is so fleeting and is eager to capture these images and display them in their home for generations. Our clients understand that newborn photography is a specialized craft and it takes an expert to produce those squishy images. They understand that newborn safety is a priority and want to work with someone who is highly trained and active in the field. The first couple of weeks of baby’s life is a blur, even easy tasks fall to the way side. Its during this time that the last thing a new parent needs is to do any additional ‘work’ Our customers understand that they will be completely taken care of. They do not have to curate any props or help assist with posing, they simply lay out on the studio bed and rest while everything is taken care of for them.
