Every once in a while, a session unfolds so smoothly that it feels almost magical. That was the case with Baby Anna’s newborn session — calm, sweet, and full of quiet little moments that remind you exactly why the newborn stage deserves to be captured forever.

A Gentle, Minimal Session with Heart
Baby Anna came to my Aurora, Colorado studio at nine pounds of pure perfection. Her parents — two of the kindest souls you could ever meet — grew up together in Mexico before making Colorado home. Her mom, an architectural designer with an incredible eye for detail, and her dad, an accountant with the calmest presence, wanted a session that felt timeless, minimal, and soft.
Their home style is neutral and modern — black, beige, and natural textures — so we carried that same energy into their session. Mom requested tones of lavender, brown, and cream to coordinate with Anna’s nursery, which has soft purple accents throughout.
When Real Lilies Aren’t in Season
Mom had also envisioned lilies woven into Anna’s portraits — a nod to growth and renewal. Unfortunately, they weren’t in season, but we worked a little digital magic. I pulled from one of my own previous sessions where I had photographed fresh lilies, gently blending them into Anna’s final image. The result was stunning and still true to mom’s original vision — delicate, elegant, and completely natural.

The Session Flow
Baby Anna slept like a dream, with just the right amount of stretch and yawn to make everyone melt. Her parents were hands-on and wonderful — offering help, chatting softly, and watching in awe as we moved through each setup.
We created several timeless looks: soft lavender wraps, neutral browns, and my signature textured layers. One of my favorite setups from the day was the Harry Potter theme her parents requested — complete with a tiny scarf, wand, and that unmistakable sense of magic.
And of course, we included the sweetest recreation of a past favorite: the blue-brown dress and bonnet set that mom had fallen in love with from another session. Seeing it on Baby Anna was perfection.

Why It Worked
This session was everything I love — cohesive tones, emotional connection, and a story that tied seamlessly to the family’s life and home. Every color and texture felt like it belonged to them, not just a photo backdrop.
When families trust me to create art that feels like them, that’s where the magic happens.
