Aurora Newborn Photography | Baby Luciana’s Studio Session

Yes—you can absolutely do a newborn session that’s just for baby.

Baby Luciana’s session in my Aurora, Colorado studio was a beautiful reminder that even without full family portraits, you can still create a meaningful, complete gallery.

A Baby-Only Session (That Still Felt Full)

Luciana’s mom chose to keep this session focused entirely on her baby—and honestly, it worked beautifully.

We leaned into:

  • Soft posing

  • Clean, timeless setups

  • A variety of looks and colors

And the result?A full gallery that still tells the story of this season.

But here’s the part I loved most…

We didn’t completely leave mom out.

The Quiet Moments That Matter Most

Even in baby-only sessions, I always try to include connection where it feels natural.

So we tucked in a few hands-on moments—just mom holding her baby.

No pressure. No full portraits. Just simple, meaningful connection.

Those images? They always end up being the ones that hit the hardest.

“That One Slays” 💅

Luciana’s mom brought the energy in the best way.

Every time we landed on a setup she loved, she’d say,“That one slays.”

And honestly… she wasn’t wrong.

It made the session feel light, fun, and collaborative—which always leads to better images.

Soft Ballet Pink (and a Little Blue Too)

One of my favorite parts of this session was finally getting to use ballet pink tones.

It’s not a color I get requested often, so it was fun to pull out some pieces that hadn’t been used in a while and create something soft and feminine without feeling overly styled.

We also mixed in:

  • Creams and neutrals

  • Soft blues (because blue on baby girls is always a yes)

  • Clean, classic textures

The variety made the gallery feel full without ever feeling overwhelming.

A Meaningful Military Detail

Luciana’s family has strong ties to the military, so we created a special setup just for them.

These kinds of details matter.

They turn a gallery from “beautiful photos” into something that actually feels personal and lasting.

A Little Extra Time (and Why It Matters)

Toward the end of the session, we were working on those final must-have shots—and ran a little tight on time.

But instead of rushing, they stayed just a few extra minutes…

…and we got everything.

That flexibility? It makes all the difference in the final gallery.

And This Isn’t the End

Even though this session was baby-focused, I already know we’ll see them again.

We’re planning a Mother’s Day session, which is something I love offering to families who might not be ready for full family portraits right away.

Because sometimes…

You just need a little more time.

What This Session Shows

This session is proof that:

  • Baby-only sessions can still feel complete

  • You don’t have to do everything all at once

  • The experience can evolve over time

And that’s exactly how it should be.
