Welcoming Baby Sister | Beauty & the Beast, Fairy Wings & a Tiny Frontier Story

If you’ve been around Tiny Details for a while, you already know some families become “Forever Family” favorites fast. This sweet crew is absolutely one of them. 🥹

I photographed big brother’s newborn session a few years ago, and they loved it so much they purchased every single image from his gallery (and honestly… same, I would’ve too). So when mama reached out to say baby sister was on the way, I may have done a tiny happy dance in my studio.

This time, we went full circle: more Beauty & the Beast, more magic, and a whole lot more pink, purple, and fairy dust. ✨

A Tiny Details “Forever Family” Returns

One of my favorite parts of this job is watching families grow.

Since big brother’s newborn session, this family has become more than clients. We’ve run into each other socially, hung out at parties, and I’ve gotten to know them as the fun, creative, kind humans they are.

  • Mama is a Frontier flight attendant, and we were introduced through my now-best friend, who also flies.

  • At one holiday party they showed up dressed as Labyrinth characters and I’m not kidding—I could have swooned on the spot at the level of cool. 🖤

  • They bring that same playful, imaginative energy right into the studio.

So when they came back with baby sister, it felt less like “meeting a new client” and more like welcoming dear friends home—with an extra tiny person in tow.

Beauty & the Beast: Then & Now 🌹

For big brother’s newborn session, they brought the tiniest Beauty & the Beast book I’ve ever seen, and we built a whole little scene around it. It was pure magic.

We decided to recreate that same feeling for baby sister, but with a twist:

  • She was wrapped and styled as Belle herself

  • We brought back the enchanted rose in the glass dome

  • We tucked in that special tiny book again, like a little visual love note tying both siblings together

Seeing those images side by side—their first baby as the “Beast” vibe, and now baby sister as Beauty—feels like the sweetest, nerdiest, most heartfelt little family tradition.

These are the kinds of details that make me so grateful I get to do this: the stories that run underneath the photos, the threads that tie one baby’s session to the next.

Fairy Wings, Butterflies & All Things Girly 🦋

For baby sister, mom really wanted to lean into soft, feminine magic:

  • Pinks, purples, and soft neutrals

  • A touch of fairy-tale whimsy

  • Something that felt dreamy without being over-the-top

So I did what I do best: I made something just for her.

I handmade a set of tiny fairy wings specifically for this session—delicate, airy, and scaled just right for a sleepy newborn. Pairing those wings with fluffy textures and soft light turned her into the tiniest woodland fairy.

We also created a special butterfly setup, with gentle tones and careful posing so the focus stayed on her tiny features. If you peek through the gallery, you’ll see:

  • Close-ups of her itty-bitty fingers and toes

  • Calm, curled-up poses that show off her cheeks and lashes

  • Butterfly and fairy-wing setups that feel magical but still timeless

Girly, yes—but still very much her, and still very much Tiny Details.

Big Brother: Best Studio Helper Ever 💛

Big brother totally stole the show in the best way.

He took his role as big brother + assistant photographer very seriously. During the session, I let him help with the camera a bit, and his face absolutely lit up. Watching him peek at the back of the camera, proud of “his” pictures, was such a sweet moment.

He also loved the studio kitchen area (kids always do!) and brought this easy, playful energy that kept the whole session relaxed.

The result? Sibling photos that don’t feel stiff or forced—just snuggles, giggles, and a very proud big brother holding his tiny baby sister.

An Easy-Going Session with an Easy-Going Family

Every newborn session is different. Some are sleepy and calm, some are full of wiggles and snack breaks, and some are a beautiful combination of both.

This one?It was easy and joyful from start to finish.

  • Mom and dad were relaxed and trusted the process (repeat families are so good at this!)

  • Baby sister gave us those dreamy, sleepy poses we all love

  • Big brother played, helped, and made everyone smile

When a family walks in and says, “We trust you—do your thing,” it opens up so much room for creativity. From custom fairy wings to recreating their Beauty & the Beast concept, this session was such a reminder of why I love what I do.

Why I Love Second-Baby Sessions So Much

There’s something really special about photographing a family’s second baby. You’re not just meeting a new little person—you’re seeing how everyone has grown since the last time you were all together in the studio.

  • Parents usually feel more confident and relaxed

  • Siblings bring personality, energy, and a whole new layer of story

  • You can weave in callbacks from the first session—like their tiny Beauty & the Beast book—to create legacy images that feel connected over time

For this family, we now have:

  • A newborn gallery for big brother

  • A newborn gallery for baby sister

  • Matching themed setups that connect their stories

  • Sibling and family images that show exactly who they are in this season: fun, creative, and full of love

These are the kinds of sessions that make me so, so grateful I get to keep doing this year after year.
