Baby Nova: A Newborn Photography Experience

Updated: Nov 7

💕 Chaos Meets Connection

If you’ve ever brought a toddler into a newborn session, you already know — things can get lively fast. Nova’s big brother was curious, funny, and full of ideas about what he thought we should do next. Instead of fighting it, we worked with it. He helped “take” photos with my camera, showed off his best poses, and at one point, I even had to stop mid-shot to “eat” a pretend sandwich he made in the studio kitchen. Those moments might sound small, but they’re everything. They build trust, help siblings feel included, and make sessions like this feel natural and fun for everyone — especially for Mom and Dad watching it all unfold.

📸 Why It Worked

Even with all the movement and laughter, the session flowed beautifully because it stayed simple. No big props, no overcomplicated setups — just baby, family, and connection. When families relax and let the chaos be part of the story, something amazing happens: the images become real. You can feel the warmth, the love, the sense of newness in every frame. That’s what I’m after — not perfection, but presence.

🌿 Looking Ahead

I know a lot of parents worry about what will happen if their older child can’t sit still or loses interest. But here’s the truth — that’s completely normal. I’ve done hundreds of these sessions, and every time, we find our rhythm. Sometimes that means breaks, sometimes it means pretend snacks, and sometimes it just means letting them be themselves.

Embracing the Unpredictable

Every family is unique. Each session brings its own surprises. Embracing the unpredictable nature of family dynamics can lead to the most genuine moments. It’s about capturing the essence of your family in that moment of time.

The Importance of Connection

Connection is key in photography. It’s not just about the poses or the props. It’s about the love and laughter shared between family members. When everyone feels comfortable, the best images emerge.

Preparing for Your Session

If you’re expecting and want portraits that capture your family exactly as you are — the love, the laughter, the real stuff — I’d love to make that happen for you.

So, if you’re ready to embrace the chaos and celebrate the connection, let’s create something beautiful together.
