Some sessions stay with you forever.
Baby Elliott’s newborn session in my Aurora, Colorado studio was one of those sessions.
Not just because the images turned out beautifully (they absolutely did)… but because this session represented collaboration, trust, growth, and the kind of emotion that reminds me why I love newborn photography so much.

A Special Colorado Photography Collaboration
This session actually began as a model call shared inside a Colorado photography community called the Photo Bettys.
The goal?
To create alongside the incredibly talented Nicola Jane Photography.
And honestly?
Getting the opportunity to work beside someone whose work I admire so deeply was such a gift.
Watching another photographer work in real time always teaches you something new—about posing, connection, lighting, confidence, and creativity.
This session stretched me creatively in the best way.
A Family That Trusted the Process
Elliott’s parents were absolute naturals.
Since this was their first baby, there were naturally nerves and excitement mixed together—but they fully leaned into the experience.
And because mom was comfortable in front of the camera, we were able to create some truly emotional family portraits.
One of my favorite moments came later…
After I sent over a few preview images, I heard that dad’s mom was visiting and actually cried seeing the photos.
That never gets old.
Those are the moments that remind me these aren’t just “pictures.”
They become part of a family story almost immediately.
Forest Greens, Soft Blues & Cozy Texture
Baby Elliott’s nursery was inspired by forest animals, so we built the session around:
earthy greens
soft moss tones
cozy textures
gentle blues
The entire gallery ended up feeling calm, organic, and incredibly timeless.
And honestly?
Green newborn setups will always have my heart.
One of My Favorite Styling Choices Ever
For the white family portraits, mom originally brought a top she wasn’t fully comfortable wearing.
So I invited her to look through the studio wardrobe options instead.
And she picked one of my favorite choices ever:a wrapped fabric look.
I love this style because:
it feels intimate
keeps the focus on connection
photographs beautifully
creates a soft skin-to-skin feeling without feeling overexposed
When families are wrapped together like this, the images become less about clothing and more about emotion.
And these images?Absolutely slayed.

Why These Images Feel So Emotional
The best newborn images usually aren’t about perfect posing.
They’re about:
closeness
trust
softness
connection
And Elliott’s gallery had all of that.
The quiet black-and-white moments…
The tiny newborn details…
The way mom and dad looked at him…
Everything about this session felt intentional and deeply connected.
Many families specifically request timeless black-and-white portraits because they keep the focus on emotion and connection during the newborn stage.
What This Session Shows
This session is proof that:
simple styling creates timeless images
emotional connection matters more than perfect outfits
collaborative creativity can produce magic
newborn photography is about preserving feeling, not just appearance
And honestly?
This session will always be one I’m grateful for.
